Jifu Robe with Dragons and Clouds on a Yellow Ground

清代黄地云龙纹吉服袍

Dragons and cloud bands are distributed across a yellow ground, with a wave-and-mountain border at the hem. Collar and cuffs are edged in dark blue gold-brocaded silk, the cuffs cut in the horse-hoof form. Jifu — festive court dress — occupied a rank below formal chaofu and above everyday wear in the Qing system; the number and placement of its motifs were fixed by regulation.
