Xiapei with Cloud-Collar Construction

清代云肩式霞帔

The xiapei is part of a woman’s ceremonial dress; in the Qing it takes the form of a sleeveless vest finished with a fringe at the hem. This example is embroidered in dense compartments, its edges cut into cloud-head profiles — hence the “cloud collar” designation.
